According to Taiwan Customs data, imports of pig iron into this country in October amounted to 58.4 thousand tons, an increase of 47% compared to the previous month. Of all October volumes, 36 thousand tons were imported from Brazil, 18 thousand tons from Russia and 3.2 thousand tons from Japan.
Taiwan's steel mills have recently experienced a shortage of pig iron, while the country's market has had little supply because Russia has switched pig iron sales to India.
