Swegon, a Swedish HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) manufacturer with around 20 production facilities in Europe, North America and India, has announced that it will use ArcelorMittal's XCarb steel in high-volume mass production air handling units.
Market sources reported that the XCarb RRP Magnelis steel from ArcelorMittal's carbon neutral steel production project will support sustainable development and further development of the renewable energy sector. At the ISH trade fair in March 2023, the air handling unit developed with XCarb steel was demonstrated by Swegon. After the evaluations, Swegon indicated that they purchased XCarb steel instead of conventional steel and will gradually operate in air handling units.
ArcelorMittal reported that XCarb steel, which has approximately 70% lower carbon, is produced with renewable energy and is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
