According to data from the Swedish Steel Association (Jernkontoret), collected from eleven crude steel production facilities in the country, Sweden's crude steel production increased by 0.3% in July 2024 compared to the same month last year, reaching 314,000 tonnes. For the January-July period of 2024, the figure decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period last year, dropping to 2,532,000 tonnes.
The 314,000 tonnes of crude steel produced in July represents an increase compared to last year, however, Mathias Ternell, Director of Trade Policy at Jernkontoret, stated, “While production is down slightly over 3% this year, it has moved above the level seen in July last year which is a positive step. We will now see if this trend continues.”
