Following the announcement of February prices by Taiwan's major upstream stainless steel mills, market observers noted an approximate NT$1,000/ton increase compared to January. Variations in ex-work prices among different steel mills ranged from NT$500 to NT$800/ton, contingent on order volume.
In China, the stainless steel market entered the New Year holiday, resulting in most steel mills and distributors halting quotation offerings.
In Taiwan, most steel mills have achieved full bookings for orders according to their target volumes. However, post-New Year holiday, the challenge lies in persuading the market to accept the increased costs. Currently, the market price has not fully reflected the augmented costs from the mills.
