SSAB signs an agreement with Manitou Group for the delivery of fossil-free steel

Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2026 and accelerate as SSAB's fossil-free steel production capacity increases.

SSAB signs an agreement with Manitou Group for the delivery of fossil-free steel

SSAB is already delivering special high-strength steels to Manitou Group, a global reference in the transportation, aerial work platform and earthmoving sectors. Both companies are now furthering their collaboration by adding future deliveries of the emission-free steels SSAB Fossil-free™ and SSAB Zero® to this range.

Both types of steel are produced with virtually zero fossil carbon emissions, which will allow Manitou Group to bring to market a new generation of sustainable products that significantly reduce the CO2 footprint, such as the telehandler, aerial work platform or forklift series.

Olavi Huhtala, Executive Vice President and President of SSAB Europe said, "We are excited to welcome Manitou Group to SSAB as a fossil-free partner. Our aim is to revolutionize the way steel is produced and pave the way for a greener future. Thanks to customers like Manitou Group, who share our goal of reducing carbon emissions, we are able to create early markets for sustainable steel."

Maurizio Achilli, Vice President of Procurement at Manitou Group said, "We work closely with our suppliers every day to reduce our indirect carbon emissions and provide our customers with more sustainable products. As steel is the main raw material for our products, this collaboration with SSAB is very important for us."
