According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, special steel production (including stainless steel) in Japan in the second quarter of this year may decrease by 6.1 percent to 3.92 million tons. Thus, in the first two quarters of this year, Japan's quarterly special steel output remains below 4 million tons.
Also, according to the second-quarter production schedule of major special steelmakers in Japan, domestic demand is expected to decline by 0.6 percent year on year and exports by 18.5 percent year on year.
