According to data released by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), South Korea's crude steel production in August remained unchanged compared to July, but decreased by 2.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 5.5 million tons. South Korea maintained its sixth place in the world's crude steel production ranking during this period.
In the January-August period of 2024, South Korea's total crude steel production decreased by 5.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, falling to 42.5 million tons.
In addition, South Korea's HRC production in August decreased by 3% compared to the previous month, falling to 1.07 million tons. HRC production in the January-August period reached around 7.4 million tons, down 3% from the same period last year.
