According to data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), South Korea's crude steel production in October decreased by 18.18% compared to the previous month, falling to 4.5 million tons. Production also decreased by 18.3% compared to the same month last year.
In the January-October period of 2024, South Korea's total crude steel production decreased by 6.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 52.3 million tons.
South Korea maintained its 6th place in the world rankings with this production amount. However, the production, which has been stable at 5.5 million tons since July, dropped by 1 million tons in October, revealing the difficulties in the country's steel sector.
