South Africa's state-owned port and rail operator, Transnet SOC Ltd., has reached a three-year wage agreement with the labor union and persuaded it to end it, which has caused a serious slowdown in exports.
Mining companies were the most affected by the strike. During this period, daily shipments of iron ore, coal, chromium, ferrochrome and other bulk minerals are estimated to have fallen by three-quarters.
