According to the statement made by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, KOSGEB support will be valid in the provinces and districts covered by the state of emergency (State of Emergency) declared due to the Kahramanmaraş-based earthquakes on 6 February.
In order to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the activities of SMEs operating in the manufacturing sector in these places, "Disaster Period Business Support" was put into practice within the scope of the "Business Development Support Programme".
Businesses that receive documents from official authorities regarding the damage to the workplace, businesses operating in temporary bazaar areas, industrial sites or manufacturing sector established after the earthquake will be able to benefit from support with an upper limit of 75 thousand liras.
12 months no repayment
Support will be provided for the service procurement expenses related to the maintenance, renovation and repair of the buildings in which the enterprises operate, the personnel expenses they employ, their receivables related to their fields of activity and their expenses such as raw materials, materials, equipment and hardware. Expenses will be considered to have been incurred after the major earthquake disaster.
The repayments to be made within the scope of the support programme will be made in 6 equal instalments in 4-month periods starting from the completion date of the programme, with a grace period of 12 months. The repayment date of the first instalment will be the first business day following the 12-month period after the completion date of the programme.
No limit for application
Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, in his post on his social media account on the subject, said, "We continue to heal the wounds. We do not leave our SMEs alone, whose workplaces were damaged in the earthquake and continue their business despite these difficult conditions. Through KOSGEB, we provide 75 thousand lira support for the needs of these businesses such as maintenance, repair and personnel."
In his evaluation in a television programme on the subject, Minister Varank said that the number one agenda item as the government is still the earthquake region.
Stating that the economy, trade and production should also stand up in order to get the earthquake zone back on its feet, Varank said:
"For this, we have started to implement support programmes to support trade and production there. As the Ministry, we are creating new industrial areas in the region, that is, we are declaring OIZ areas. We are laying the foundation to rebuild the destroyed industrial estates. In terms of industrial estates, we will build over 9 thousand industrial shops and deliver them to the operators. We are establishing new bazaars for the continuation of trade life. There is a need for working capital here. With KOSGEB and development agencies, we provide support to businesses that run their businesses again."
Pointing out that they have now commissioned new support, Varank said, "If there is a small damage in the shop of small tradesmen, we will give interest-free loans through KOSGEB without involving banks. We spread it over 3 years. This is actually a grant. We will benefit up to 75 thousand liras. Whoever applies right now, there is no limit, we will provide this support. We are also working with the World Bank. We are about to sign the agreements. We will provide a new rapid support programme to our SMEs in the region. These are life water. We will make the region the centre of attraction of the Eastern Mediterranean."
