Vietnam's import volumes recorded a significant increase on a monthly basis, up 75% compared to 168,620 tonnes recorded in July.
Import volumes exceeded imports of 280,714 tonnes in August 2022. All major suppliers also increased their scrap shipments to Vietnam.
The most significant growth was recorded in Japanese and Australian supplies.
Additionally, the recovery in scrap demand was supported by the restart of Hoa Phat Group's 1 million tonne blast furnace at its Dung Quat plant in late July.
