"In the process of implementation of the investment project, we installed a new sheet straightening machine, assembled gear motors for the drive of hydraulic stations and drawing cylinders, and partially replaced the electronics. Despite the challenging situation in the industry, we continue to invest in the technological development of our production. The modernization of end-class units close to the customer allows us to simultaneously improve product quality and production efficiency, and support market demand. In particular, the rearrangement of the APR-2 increases the production capacity of hot-rolled sheets with a guarantee of flatness up to 5 mm per meter. "After the reconstruction of the APR-2, the technical capabilities of all the main hot-rolled cutting units at the CirMK site make it possible to achieve product quality for civil and mechanical engineering at the level of industry best practices."
The modernization of the APR-2 made it possible to allow for the operation planning of cross-cutting units, as well as to increase the production of particularly complex and first-class products. This is especially true for high-strength Powerform steels as well as for rolling for Steelazer – laser cutting of metal – a metal with evenly spaced internal stresses and improved flatness achieved by special regulation modes in the cutting unit.
Specialists from Severstal's core contracting organizations, including companies from the Vologda District, the site where the Chermk is located, were involved in the reconstruction of APR-2.
