"The production of in-demand hot-rolled pickled galvanized steel significantly increases the load on the shipping section of Metal Coating Shop No. 3. The implementation of this investment project will improve the efficiency of logistics processes, ensure the rhythmic flow of the technological chain, and maintain the high quality of steel during loading. In particular, the extension of the existing railway spur will allow for an increase in shipment volumes by 300 tons per day. New jobs have been created to support the section. The project also included the construction of a modular building for employees near the shipping area and production lines. I am confident that comfortable working conditions will contribute to increased process efficiency," commented Evgeny Vinogradov, General Director of the Severstal Russian Steel division and resource assets.
The changes will allow for a 20% increase in the production of hot-rolled pickled galvanized steel. In 2024, there was strong demand for this product in the civil and infrastructure construction sectors. It is used in the production of lightweight steel thin-walled structures (LSTK), corrugated spiral pipes for road construction, as well as in the construction of agro-industrial complexes, including silos, elevators, and grain storage facilities.
Additionally, as part of the project in 2025, a new 16-ton overhead electric crane is planned to be installed, and two existing cranes will be equipped with a radio control system. These investment decisions are aimed at expanding the shipping section of CPM-3.
All investment stages of the project are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
