Semi-finished products imports of Türkiye increased by 6.7% in February

Türkiye's imports of semi-finished products in February 2024 increased by 6.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, while decreasing by 20.7% on a monthly basis.

SteelRadar data compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Türkiye's imports ofsemi-finished products in February 2024 increased by 6.7% yoy to 443,465 tons from 415,716 tons in the same month of the previous year.

This number was down by 20.7% compared to the previous month, January.

2024 January-February total imports increased by 20.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, rising from 831,601 tons to 1,002,639 tons.

The country that Türkiye imported the most semi-finished products in the said period was Malaysia. While there were no imports from Malaysia in February last year, 140,226.8 tons were imported from Malaysia in February this year. Russia ranked second; 72,270 tons of imports were realized from Russia. Russia, which ranked first with 145,758 tons of imports in January, decreased by 50.7% in one month. It is emphasized that the currency crisis in Russia was the reason behind this decrease.
