Taiwan initiates second review of anti-dumping measure

Taiwan's Ministry of Finance has initiated the second review of the anti-dumping (AD) measure on stainless steel cold rolled flat products from China and South Korea. This step was taken to ensure that the domestic industry operates in a fair and competitive environment.

These AD duties, which were first imposed in August 2013, were extended in August 2019. As the existing duties will expire on August 28, 2024, Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works Co., Ltd. filed for the continuation of these duties on February 19, 2024. These companies argued that the expiration of the duties could lead to the resumption of dumping practices and damage to the domestic industry.

In August, several countries including Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, and the European Union launched anti-dumping investigations into steel imports. These countries imposed these measures after complaining about the negative impact of cheap steel imports on their domestic markets. These investigations particularly affected countries in the Far East.
