Spanish technology and engineering supplier Sarralle Group has received an order from ArcelorMittal to upgrade its Belval plant in Luxembourg. The plant has an annual production capacity of around 1.3 million tonnes of profile parts and blooms.
The investment includes the engineering and supply of a new 155 tonne Direct Current electric arc furnace and a 145 tonne vacuum degasser. Sarralle will also upgrade the six-wire continuous caster, fume exhaust and material handling systems, as well as the water treatment plant.
"The new technology will ensure sustainable production of long products to deliver the best steel quality to ArcelorMittal Belval's customers," Sarralle said. The equipment will improve operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions and minimise the need for maintenance.
