Investing over 100 million euros, the Salzgitter Group has reactivated blast furnace A after a modernization process lasting more than 100 days.
Blast furnace A was completely renewed during the process, its refractory lining being reinforced with 3,000 tons of carbon bricks and other refractory materials. These changes are considered an important step in securing pig iron supply during Salzgitter's transition to low CO2 steel production by 2033.
It was emphasized in the statement that these renovation and improvement works carried out in line with the company's sustainability goals have an important role in environmental friendly steel production.
