Germany's Salzgitter AG announced that it has commissioned ANDRITZ to build a 100 MW electrolysis plant, one of the largest green hydrogen plants in Europe. The plant will be constructed at the Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH site.
The plant will produce around 9,000 tonnes of green hydrogen each year from 2026. The construction of the electrolysis plant is an important step in the Salzgitter SALCOS® programme. The SALCOS® programme is planned to be divided into three phases. Salzgitter aims to make its production CO2-free by the end of 2033.
