Salzgitter AG has announced the appointment of Dr. Heike Denecke-Arnold as the new management board chairman of its strip-making unit, Salzgitter Flachstahl. Denecke-Arnold will take over from Ulrich Grethe, who is set to retire in January 2025.
Dr. Denecke-Arnold, holding a doctorate in metallurgy and materials engineering, brings extensive experience in the steel industry. Salzgitter AG CEO Gunnar Groebler stated, "Dr. Denecke-Arnold's expertise will significantly contribute to the progress of the SALCOS (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) project during our transition to low-carbon production processes."
Groebler described the outgoing Ulrich Grethe's career as "an exemplary journey from trainee to chairman."
Meanwhile, Salzgitter announced that it will highlight the SALCOS project at the Euroblech fair in Hannover this week. The company's booth will provide visitors with detailed information about low-carbon steel production. Salzgitter will showcase various divisions and product ranges at the fair. Participating units include Salzgitter Flachstahl, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlservice, and Ilsenburger Grobblech, among others.
