Rader High Bridge is a 1,500-meter-long bridge over the Kiel Canal and an important connection point for Denmark and Scandinavia. The bridge, which has been in service since 1972, is being renovated due to wear and tear. The project, which started in 2023, will see the construction of the eastern section, while the construction of the western section will start in 2028. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2031.
Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, provided the project with durable and long-lasting steel plates, guaranteeing the stability of the bridge and playing a decisive role for the project with its engineering solutions.
Ilsenburger Grobblech is one of the steel suppliers that provided quality steel sheets to contribute to a prestigious project. For this important structure, additional tonnages of structural steel were reportedly required for the eastern section of the bridge. Tony Dachner, Ilsenburger Grobblech's sales manager for the DACH region, stated: “We are proud to be able to contribute with our own thick plate to the success of this infrastructure project, which is extremely important for Northern Germany. This high-quality contribution is made possible by our long-standing partnerships with our customers Plauen Stahl Technologie GmbH and ZSB Zwickauer Sonderstahlbau.”
