Sabancı Recycling plans to build a plant for the production of qualified steel

Sabancı Recycling plans to build a plant for the production of qualified steel

Sabancı Recycling is planning to invest 8 million liras in Kahramanmaraş to produce qualified steel used in the automotive and machinery sectors. The company aims to contribute to Turkey's current account deficit by diversifying into products with high added value. The company, which primarily recycles waste from Kahramanmaraş and its surroundings, is the only licensed recycling company in the region.

The company plans to establish a facility for producing qualified steel used in the automotive industry, which will be produced by recycling scrap. The company aims to prevent imports of skilled steel, which is one of the biggest factors triggering Turkey's current account deficit. The number of qualified steel producers in Turkey is limited, and most demand is met by imports.

The plant will be completed next year, with an annual import of approximately 5.6 million tons of qualified steel. With their investments, they aim to produce 50 thousand tons of this production, which has a material value of 300 million liras. They plan to complete their facility, which has a total closed area of 6 thousand square meters, towards the end of next year.

Sabancı Recycling aims to close this year with a turnover of 6 million liras. They believe that the government is favorable to the recycling sector but argue that the legislation is heavy. They propose simplifying the legislation and paving the way for entrepreneurs to achieve Turkey's 2023 targets.

The company recycles 18 thousand tons of waste annually and plans to focus on exports after their facility, targeting Middle Eastern countries and Turkic Republics, with a priority on Iran and Azerbaijan.
