Additionally, it was reported that the Immigration Administration increased the lower limit for real estate acquisition for short-term residence permit to 200 thousand dollars.
Istanbul is in first place
Istanbul, which ranks first in the distribution of foreigners living in Turkey with a residence permit by province, hosted 568 thousand foreigners.
Antalya ranked after Istanbul in the number of foreigners living in Turkey with a residence permit. The number of foreigners with a residence permit in Antalya was recorded as 130 thousand 994.
Among the cities with the highest number of residence permits, 71 thousand 832 foreigners live in Ankara, 51 thousand 566 in Bursa, 41 thousand 190 in Mersin, 24 thousand 247 in Izmir and 22 thousand 586 in Muğla.
Russians are first in line
Russian citizens took the first place among foreigners in Turkey with a residence permit. The number of Russians living in Turkey with a residence permit was recorded as 107 thousand 392.
The number of foreigners in Turkey with a residence permit reached 422 thousand 895 in 2015, from 178 thousand 964 in 2005. The number of foreigners in Turkey with a residence permit, which increased to 856 thousand 470 in 2018, exceeded 1 million for the first time in 2019 and reached 1 million 101 thousand 30. This number was recorded as 886 thousand 653 in 2020, 1 million 314 thousand 181 in 2021, and 1 million 354 thousand 94 in 2022.
In addition, with a decision taken on October 16, the Immigration Administration increased the lower limit for real estate acquisition for foreigners for short-term residence permits. It was announced that, as of October 16, 2023, the lower limit for real estate purchases for foreigners to obtain a residence permit has been increased from 75 thousand dollars to 200 thousand dollars.
