For the first five months of 2024, Russian Railways reported a total loading of 502 million tons. This figure is 3% lower than the same period in the previous year. The breakdown of shipped goods by railways is as follows:
- Hard Coal: 143.1 million tons, a decrease of 5.3% compared to January-May 2023.
- Coke: 4.9 million tons, an increase of 4.9%.
- Iron and Manganese Ore: 45.1 million tons, a decrease of 6.4%.
- Ferrous Metals: 26.9 million tons, a decrease of 5.7%.
- Ferrous Metal Scrap: 4.4 million tons, a decrease of 14.9%.
These figures reflect the ongoing fluctuations in the railway transport sector, highlighting both growth in certain commodities like coke and declines in others such as hard coal and ferrous metal scrap.
