Rolled metal consumption in Italy decreased by 12.1 per cent

Italian enterprises reduced their consumption of rolled metal in January-July this year by 12.1% compared to the same period in 2022, to 14.71 million tonnes.

During the 7 months, 9.13 million tonnes of rolled metal (long and flat rolled products) were imported into Italy, which is 13.6% less than in the same period in 2022. At the same time, imports from third countries amounted to 4.92 million tonnes (-7.8% y-o-y), while imports from EU countries amounted to 4.2 million tonnes (-19.5%). Imported supplies account for 62% of the domestic market for rolled steel consumption in the country.
