Researchers from the University of Bristol visited the most polluted spots at the Chernobyl nuclear facility for this purpose. Researchers also make use of the robot dog Spot developed by Boston Dynamics to deal with radioactive waste.
The robot dog named Spot goes to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to collect data for scientists and wanders smoothly in Chernobyl, one of the deadliest spots in the world.
At the same time, the robots were trained to create a 3D map of the area. These maps will allow for a more accurate determination of the spread and location of radiation.
In 2016, a structure called the New Safe Shelter was placed over the remains of the 4th Reactor at the facility to completely decommission and clean up the waste. Scientists continue their work in this shelter with their protective suits.
4. Radiation levels in the reactor's control room are thought to have reached 40,000 times normal.
