Global mining giant Rio Tinto reported that its iron ore production in the second quarter of this year was 81.3 million tons, up 2% quarter-on-quarter and 3% year-over-year.
During the reporting period, iron ore shipments decreased by 4% quarter-on-quarter and 1% year-on-year to 79.1 million tonnes.
In the first half of the year, Rio Tinto's iron ore production was 160.5 million tonnes, up 7% year-on-year. Shipment increased by 7% year on year to 161.7 million tons. Rio Tinto plans to increase iron ore shipments by 320-335 Mt by 2023.
