To be commissioned in 2024, the Rebar Monitoring System (IDIS) will track rebar imported or produced from abroad with special security tags. Following the completion of the work carried out by the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing Office, this system will be able to track rebar from the production and import stages to final sale or construction use.
IDIS will work by applying security labels using special ink produced by the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing to rebar ties. The labels will have high security standards and will be non-copyable. They will also contain information such as the production date of the rebar.
Local rebar producers and importers will tag their products at designated points and register them in the IDIS system. The labeling process will be reported to the Mint via the mobile application. Transportation processes will also be integrated into the system; the shipment, exit and delivery information of the rebar will be transferred to the system together with e-dispatch notes and e-invoices.
Security tags will be checked with special devices during field inspections, which will enable the tracking of rebar. Manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, sellers and building contractors will log in to the system via the mobile application and perform registration and activation procedures.
All stakeholders who are obliged to be registered in IDIS will face irregularity penalties if they do not perform transactions in accordance with the system. Rebar production, export, import, purchase, sale and use will not be allowed outside IDIS. Building inspection organizations will also record the label information of the samples they take into the system and the laboratory results will be uploaded to IDIS. In this way, processes related to rebar will be managed in a more transparent and reliable manner.
