Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, in a statement to Qatar News Agency, emphasized that the 10th Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee Meeting would strengthen economic relations and create new opportunities for cooperation. He highlighted that over 100 agreements and protocols have been signed under the committee in sectors such as defense industries, infrastructure, logistics, and free zones.
Bolat noted that the bilateral trade volume, which stood at USD 2.3 billion in 2022, dropped to USD 1.3 billion in 2023 but reached USD 933 million between January and October 2024. He expressed optimism that the full implementation of the economic partnership agreement would further boost this potential. Among Türkiye’s exports to Qatar, defense industry products, metal, and aluminum goods stand out, while imports from Qatar mainly include unprocessed aluminum and polyethylene.
Bolat also underlined that Qatar is the eighth-largest market for Turkish contractors, with Turkish companies completing 198 projects worth USD 20.3 billion. He announced that new agreements aimed at enhancing mutual investments are in the final stages.
