Kazakhstan's leading steel producer Qarmet has achieved a significant success by realising its first million tonnes of steel production.
Andrei Berg, Director of Qarmet's Steel Department, emphasised that the average monthly steel production was 300,000 tonnes, 50,000 tonnes more than last year. In May, it is planned to produce 326,000 tonnes of steel, which was made possible by the commissioning of BOF No. 2 after repairs.
Along with the increase in production, demand for the company's products is also growing. As part of its "localisation" strategy, Qarmet is developing its products to meet the needs of the domestic market. In the first 4 months of 2024, sales of flat rolled products increased by 8% year-on-year, while sales in the Central Asian markets grew by 15%.
