South Korean steelmaker Posco is making a significant technological investment to improve production processes at its Gwangyang Works facility. The company has ordered an advanced electromagnetic stirring system from engineering firm Danieli Rotelec to increase quality and efficiency in steel production.
This system, called MM®-EMS, will be integrated into one of the casting machines at Steel Plant #2 at Gwangyang Works. This technology will replace the old system with a more modern solution and will significantly improve the production of high-quality slabs.
The new system will allow the casting machine, which produces different steel grades and sizes, to operate more efficiently and consistently. This is particularly important when it comes to meeting the demand for quality steel from various sectors.
Posco is already using this technology from Danieli Rotelec on another casting machine at the same facility. With the new investment, the number of casting machines using Danieli Rotelec’s electromagnetic stirring system in Posco’s factories will reach 13.
