In February 2024, Poland reduced its steel production by 10.1% compared to the same month of the previous year to 550 thousand tons.
SteelRadar data indicate that Poland, which experienced a 13.1% decrease in steel production in 2023 compared to 2022, reduced its production to 6.44 million tons and recorded monthly steel production of 617.25 thousand tons in 2022 and 536.42 thousand tons in 2023.
It was stated that there has been a general decrease in steel production in Europe, the interest in domestic steel production has decreased due to the lower cost of imported products, and many countries in Europe have been negatively affected as companies have limited their capacities in order to balance supply demands. Poland reduced its steel production by 3.8% to 1.14 million tons in January-February 2024 compared to the same periods of 2023, while steel production decreased by 6.8% in February compared to January.
According to SteelRadar data, Poland was also negatively affected by the overall decrease in steel production in Europe, with a drop in steel production compared to previous periods. However, it is expected that companies will be able to increase steel production after the Easter holidays.
