According to data from the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS), Pakistan's scrap imports reached roughly 212,000 tons in September, a 20% increase from the previous month and a 5% rise compared to the same period last year.
The import of steel products during the month surged to around 277,000 tons, marking a significant 37% growth m-o-m and 63% increase y-o-y.
In terms of value, Pakistan’s scrap imports generated approximately USD 95 million in September, which represented a slight m-o-m decrease of 2%, despite a 4% increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, the import value of steel products amounted to around USD 185 million, reflecting a 25% rise from August and a 51% y-o-y jump.
