According to data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS), the country imported around 212,000 tons of scrap in August. This figure represents a decrease of 0.8% from the previous month and 0.4% from the same period last year.
In August, steel product imports reached around 167,000 tons, reflecting a decrease of 32% from the previous month and a decrease of 29% from the previous year.
The value of Pakistan's scrap imports reached around USD 97 million in August, which implies a 0.3% on annual basis decrease, despite a 1.3% on monthly basis increase. On the other hand, the import value of steel products was recorded at around USD 123 million, a decrease of 24% compared to the previous month and 25% lower than the same period last year.
