The number of deaths is increasing due to earthquakes that shook Turkey.
Due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, 18 thousand 342 people lost their lives. The number of injured people was 74 thousand 242.
Oktay made statements at the AFAD Coordination Center regarding the earthquakes, the epicenter of which was Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş and affecting 10 provinces.
Expressing his gratitude to everyone who made an effort to leave the pain caused by the earthquake behind, Oktay noted that 121 citizens were rescued from the rubble in the last 24 hours.
Oktay stated that the survivors after 72 hours were a good story of how the teams engaged in search and rescue and support activities in the field kept hope, and said that the 5-year-old Hazal and her mother, who were rescued in Hatay, warmed the hearts.
Noting that 29,622 search and rescue teams are on the field at the moment, Oktay said that they concentrate on the villages and their activities will not end until they reach each village.
Stating that 6 thousand 479 of these search and rescue teams came from different countries, Oktay thanked these countries for the teams from 75 countries.
Vice President Oktay said:
"Unfortunately, our citizens who lost their lives, who made us sad and continue to grieve us. As of now, there have been 18,342. Once again, I wish God's mercy on each of them, may their place be in heaven. I offer my condolences to the relatives, family and nation of each, patience and supplication. There are those who have been rescued and whose treatment continues, the number of these citizens is 74 thousand 242. I wish a speedy recovery to those in the hospital."
