Oil deal between Iraq and Jordan extended

Jordan and Iraq decided to extend the term of the agreement, which envisages the sale of 10 thousand barrels of crude oil per day from Kirkuk.

According to the news of the Jordanian official agency PETRA, the extension of the agreement was announced by Hasan al-Heyari, an official of the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Within the scope of the agreement, 10,000 crude oil per day will be transported from Kirkuk to the refinery in Zarqa city in central Jordan.

Reminding that oil imports from Iraq were stopped in February 2022 to complete the negotiation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, Heyari noted that the oil flow would start again in April. Hehari did not provide information on how long the agreement was extended.

In February 2019, an agreement was signed between Iraq and Jordan for the sale of 10 thousand barrels of oil per day, which corresponds to 7 percent of Jordan's oil needs.
