Nucor has announced plans to build a new $164 million pipe facility on the campus of its Gallatin steel mill in Kentucky. The facility is expected to have a capacity of 250,000 short tons per year for hollow structural sections, mechanical tubing, and galvanized solar torque tube, and is scheduled to start up in mid-2023.
Leon Topalian, CEO of Nucor, says, "With our recent investments to expand capacity and add a galvanizing line at Nucor Steel Gallatin, our Gallatin campus is an ideal location to build our new pipe facility."
The CEO concluded his remarks by saying, "The new pipe facility will enable us to better serve our customers in the construction, infrastructure, and renewable energy markets."
