In order to improve plate profiles and mill-flatness performance, NLMK contracted Danieli to carry out the project at its Ittre plate mill. At the 750,000 tpy plate unit, Danieli installed new loopers for stands 1 and 4, as well as hydraulic actuators for stands 3 and 4's gap control and an entirely new hydraulic bending system. The mill's automation system was also upgraded by the contractor. In order to secure a leading position in the thin-gauge steel market and provide plates with the best surface, flatness, and dimensional tolerance, NLMK Clabecq placed an upgrade order with Danieli.
NLMK Clabecq decided to concentrate on the thin-gauge value-added plate market back in 2019. It is currently producing thin-wide plate grades as well as its QUARD and QUEND products.
