NLMK begins recycling scrapped refractories

NLMK has started to convert discarded refractory materials into steelmaking raw materials. This project was implemented as part of the NLMK Group's recycling initiative, which aims to bring 99.5% of recycled materials back into production by 2025.

Refractors are used to protect machinery and equipment from the high temperatures of molten metal. Since their service life is short, they must be renewed after a while. However, with this project, they will be recycled to make additives to increase the durability of converter linings.
