According to the statement made by İDDMİB, at the Aluminum Industry Workshop, which was held in a hotel in Antalya and attended by more than 100 companies, the problems of the industry and its future goals were discussed. The Chairman of the Union, Tecdelioğlu, whose views were given in the statement, stated that the aluminum industry, which captured 5 billion dollars of exports last year, increased its exports to 5.8 billion dollars in the 11 months of 2022.
Explaining the new targets at the workshop, Tecdelioğlu said, "We wholeheartedly believe that new opportunities can be found in the aluminum industry. As a Union, we continue our efforts to open the aluminum industry to new markets in exports. In this context, we can say that the USA has a great opportunity for our aluminum industry. Tecdelioğlu also drew attention to the fact that the USA is very suitable for the "Distant Countries Strategy" formed by the Ministry of Commerce, and that it is within the scope of support at a rate of up to 75 percent.
Emphasizing that a different strategy should be applied for the USA, Tecdelioğlu continued as follows:
"We need to market to the USA on a state basis. Each state has a different structure. The needs and management styles of the states may vary. Taking all these into account, we aim to maximize the share of our aluminum industry from the USA. In order to put this plan into effect in the next 2 years, we will first and foremost "We will intensify our meetings with our trade attachés in the USA. We aim to benefit our aluminum industry by acting jointly with all our institutions. Thus, we will also provide a great benefit to exports, which is the foremost for Turkey's development."

Stating that aluminum provides input to the industry as a metal and is preferred in many sectors from construction to transportation, from energy to automotive, Çetin Tecdelioğlu noted that aluminum will be needed even more in the future.
Tecdelioğlu stated that rising energy prices are pushing the companies operating in the sector and underlined that 37 percent of the costs in the aluminum sector are energy expenses.
Explaining that with the rising energy costs, its advantages in foreign competition began to decrease, Tecdelioğlu shared the following:
"We have the support we expect from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources at this point. We demand the creation of a price tariff on a sectoral basis and support for the aluminum industry in the first place. Fluctuations in the commodity and energy markets, the increase in the exchange rate, the inflation experienced on a global scale and the resulting monetary tightening trend. In addition, we come together with our companies in working group meetings established by our ministries in order to ensure the transition to a sustainable and green economy that is compatible with the world economy, supporting green transformation, within the scope of the EU Green Deal application and the action plan.
