New initiative from Minerals Development Oman

Minerals Development Oman, an ore processing and mining company based in Oman, is planning to focus on the production of copper ore, chromite, magnesium ore, soft silica, gypsum, limestone and dolomite. Minerals Development Oman (MDO) reported that it is working on a few projects related to its minerals development initiative, which is planned to be operational in the coming years.

It intends to continue its work with Oman Mining Company (OMCO), a subsidiary of MDO. According to MDO, the copper smelter in Oman will be utilized to support the production of ferrosilicon. OMCO is reportedly aiming to improve its commercial performance and is expected to invest in concentrator and refinery facilities capable of producing 20,000 metric tons of copper.

The commercialization of 100,000 metric tons of chromite ore at Fanja and Al Raki, which was reported in the annual feasibility study report last year, is underway with MDO's decision. Oman Mining Company will be involved in this project to extract ore from the Fanja and Al Raki fields.
