New house sales in the country, seasonally adjusted, increased by 7.2 percent compared to the previous month and reached 670,000 in January. This was the highest level on record since March 2022.
The median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg was 620,000.
New house sales decreased by 19.4 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year.
The median selling price of new homes that went on sale in the US last month, on the other hand, decreased by 0.7 percent compared to the previous year and fell to $427,500.
