Communiques of the Ministry on import inspections were released in the 4th repetitive issue of the Official Gazette.
Communiqué on Inspection of Compliance with Standards in Imports, the procedures and principles for inspecting the compliance of the products specified in the standards with the relevant standards or technical legislation in imports were regulated.
Procedures and principles regarding the inspection of products that do not comply with the standards specified in the Communiqué on the Inspection of Compliance with Standards in Imports were determined, while the procedures for inspecting the compliance of wastes in terms of environmental protection were also determined. Additionally, the import of 23 chemicals that can be used in unregistered production was brought under control and the scope of inspection of medicinal products for human use and radioactive chemical elements was expanded.
Inspection of conformity in the import of metal scrap
The communique, which includes the procedures and principles regarding the import of products controlled by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, prioritized human health, animal and plant existence and environmental protection. In order to protect the environment, new arrangements for conformity audits on the import of chemicals, solid fuels and metal scrap were also implemented.
The provisions on import inspections and quota allocation in order to reduce the use of fluorinated gases were also revised within the framework of commitments arising from international agreements.
Furthermore, with the Communiqué on Import Control of Mother and Baby Products, strict controls were introduced for products in this category, while regulations were made regarding new products included in the scope of import controls in textile, apparel, footwear and stationery product groups.
With the Import Inspection Communiqué on Movable Machinery Used Off-Highway, an attempt was made to prevent the placing of heavy construction machinery on the market in an unsafe manner or in violation of its technical regulations.
The Ministry also announced a new communiqué on the procedures and principles regarding notified bodies and conformity assessment bodies notified to the European Commission through the Ministry of Trade.
As a final step, the Ministry increased administrative fines by 58.46 percent within the scope of the communiqué regulating criminal sanctions related to product safety and technical regulations. In this context, the fines to be imposed on those who violate the Product Safety and Technical Regulations Law No. 7223 will vary between 33 thousand 679 liras and 2 million 405 thousand 665 liras.
