Stating that they have a budget of 1.2 billion liras for direct exploration projects this year, Yanık said, "First, we plan to complete the Sinop-Boyabat Metallic Mine Explorations and Muş Coal Explorations projects." said.
He also stated that they took precautions by taking into account possible risks during the project preparation process. Yanık stated that they plan to finalize the "Geochemistry Research" project they carried out in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus this year. He also shared that engineers plan to carry out field studies and take samples from soil and streams, and that they have completed most of these studies.
Yanık announced that the total fee allocated to MTA for direct exploration projects within the scope of the Mineral and Geothermal Resource Exploration and Research Project in the 2024 Investment Program is 1 billion 245 million 980 thousand liras.
Pointing out that there are 12 different subprojects within the scope of the roof project this year, Yanık said that mineral exploration activities throughout Türkiye will be carried out with expert teams and qualified equipment with the support of world-class analysis laboratories.
Yanık emphasized that these projects were prepared for raw materials such as copper, aluminum, graphite and rare earth elements, which are considered strategic or critical raw materials by countries such as the USA, China, Russia and the EU, and added that field studies will be carried out in the regions, the geological structure of the region will be investigated and the geological structure of the region will be investigated and deemed appropriate. He said that drilling exploration activities will be carried out in the areas. He added that various analyzes will be carried out in the field and laboratory environment and it will be investigated whether there is mineralization in the region, the data will be interpreted by the teams, more detailed examinations will be made and the results will be compiled into a report.
Stating that a total of 261.4 million lira was allocated for projects related to coal exploration and 63.8 million lira for radioactive raw material exploration, Yanık continued his words as follows:
"Coal is of primary importance in the context of reducing our country's dependence on foreign sources of energy, and it is seen that this situation will continue in the coming periods. Work on the establishment and commissioning of nuclear power plants continues in our country. In order to meet the raw material needs of the power plants to be established from our domestic resources in the future, our institution has been working in Nevşehir-Avanos. "Search work continues in Gülşehir and Manisa regions."
Project of the year at MTA: "Türkiye Metallogeny Map"
Yanık emphasized that MTA could consider the Türkiye Metallogeny Map as the project of the year. Explaining that within the scope of the project, it is aimed to digitalize all known mineral deposits in Turkey with the help of current technology and geographical information systems, Yanuk stated that it will be possible to show the mineral deposits in Turkey on a single map in terms of their geological and geodynamic features.
Stating that it has become almost impossible to detect mineral deposits on the surface, Yanuk stated that this map will provide critical infrastructure data in the discovery of buried and deep deposits.
Noting that the project will also pave the way for the extraction of basin/belt deposits, Yanuk said, "As a result, this map is expected to make a great contribution to mining activities in our country, both economically and in terms of time management." said.
