In 2024, MMK Group supplied a total of 1.6 million tons of galvanized and painted steel products to the Russian domestic market. Despite the nationwide decline in demand for metallurgical products, sales of coated steel products featuring protective layers increased slightly, by about 3%, reaching 6 million tons. MMK Group maintained its leadership position in this segment and significantly grew its premium product sales by 25% compared to the previous year. Notably, their premium range includes hot-dip galvanized steel products tailored for the automotive sector and high-strength construction materials, as well as decorative-coated steel marketed under the popular "SteelArt" brand.
Vladimir Banshchikov, Director of MMK-Lysva Metallurgical Plant, emphasized that high-strength structural steel (with a yield strength exceeding 220 MPa) and premium galvanized steel with high-quality zinc coatings (ranging from 450 to 600 units) represent the most promising future segments. The company is actively expanding its technology to produce steel products with enhanced zinc coatings, starting from class C275, to improve corrosion resistance, especially in harsh climatic and industrial conditions. Additionally, innovative developments such as flexible polyester-coated steel, steel with antibacterial coatings, and anti-vandal "Anti-graffiti" protective coatings have been identified as important strategic growth areas moving forward.
