Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources aims to increase the use of domestic resources in electricity generation

The proposal aims to increase the installed capacity of these power plants to 22,600 megawatts in solar power plants (SPP), 14,800 megawatts in wind power plants (WPP), 32,395 megawatts in hydroelectric power plants (HPP) and 4,487 megawatts in geothermal power plants (GPP) by 2025, and to increase the share of renewable resources in electricity generation to 47.8 percent.

The Ministry also announced that it plans to reduce the share of imported resources in the electricity generation portfolio and strengthen supply security, increase the use of domestic resources in electricity generation, reduce foreign dependence on energy, and ensure electricity and natural gas supply security.

The share of domestic resources in electricity generation is expected to be 58.9% by the end of the year and 59.4% in 2025, while the share of natural gas in electricity generation is expected to fall to 20.7% by the end of the year and 18.9% in 2025.

The ministry plans to increase the regeneration capacity of natural gas storage facilities to 155 million cubic meters per day, gas transmission network entry capacity to 525 million cubic meters per day and natural gas underground storage capacity from 5.8 billion cubic meters to 6.3 billion cubic meters per day in 2025, while the loss rate in electricity transmission is expected to fall to 1.98% by the end of the year and 1.96% in 2025.
