Making significant statements about Türkiye’s industrialization process, foreign investments, and technology-focused projects, Minister Kacır emphasized that the Chinese automotive giant Chery’s investment in Türkiye is currently on Samsun's agenda.
Kacır stated, “We are in serious dialogue with Chery regarding Samsun. We expect its capacity to be at least as large as BYD’s. From an individual investment perspective, it is also comparable to BYD.” Highlighting that new investment axes will be established within Türkiye’s industrialization strategy, Kacır noted that the Samsun-Adana-Mersin corridor will shape Türkiye’s industrial growth direction over the next 30 years.
Regional Industrial Cooperation is Increasing
Minister Kacır mentioned that last week in Qatar, significant steps were taken regarding industrial partnerships. He pointed out that globalization is changing and that regional collaborations in this area are becoming increasingly important. He emphasized that with $265 million in expenditure and $435 billion in industrial production, Türkiye’s industrial capacity plays a major role in the regional economy.
Expressing great interest in energy transition and battery technologies, Kacır announced that a new $7 billion investment is in its final stages for Türkiye. He stated that within the HIT-30 program, a total of $30 billion in high-tech investments has been accumulated over time, and initially, a $2.5 billion investment will be publicly shared.
Türkiye Strengthens Its Semiconductor Production
During his visit to Malaysia, Minister Kacır held talks on new partnerships in semiconductor and chip production. He emphasized that Türkiye has significant capabilities in chip design and that critical chips used in the defense industry are being produced domestically. Reminding that Malaysia has $66 billion in high-tech exports, Kacır stated that Türkiye has made chip production one of its strategic goals.
Drone Production Cooperation with Indonesia
The Minister of Industry and Technology noted that Indonesia ranks 16th among G20 countries and possesses significant economic potential. He announced that Baykar has signed a major agreement with Indonesia for the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Additionally, Kacır pointed out that Indonesia holds some of the world’s largest nickel reserves, and potential collaborations in this area are being evaluated.
Turkey-Pakistan Defense Cooperation Expands
Emphasizing Pakistan’s strategic importance for Türkiye, Kacır highlighted the lesser-known defense industry cooperation between the two countries. He stated that Türkiye is one of the leading nations in UAV production, which has significantly altered modern warfare strategies. He also noted that Turkish-made UAVs are in high demand globally.
OSB Investments and Strengthening Industrial Infrastructure
Discussing investments in Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs), Kacır announced that in the past four months, 2,010 industrial investment transactions were recorded for 1,076 investment locations across 153 OSBs. He also stated that social facilities and housing will be developed around OSBs to support workers. Emphasizing that Türkiye is shifting industrial investments from the Marmara region to the Samsun-Adana-Mersin corridor, Kacır underlined that this step is crucial for Türkiye’s economic growth.
Türkiye Stands Out in the Global Industrial Race
Minister Kacır stated that Türkiye is one of the most integrated countries in global industry and production. He highlighted that new investments are flowing from China to Türkiye and that Türkiye is benefiting from the U.S.-China economic rivalry. He pointed out that while Europe’s aging workforce is a disadvantage, Türkiye has a major advantage with its 27 million young people under the age of 21.
Minister Kacır concluded by emphasizing that Türkiye is continuing significant investments and partnerships to strengthen its position as a global power in industry and technology.
