Alimoğlu stated that as an association, they are aiming to reach an export level of 1 billion 250 million dollars by the end of 2024. In this meeting, information on current developments was also given. Alimoğlu stated that Türkiye plays an important role in mineral production and exports worldwide. Rich mineral deposits, quality products, promising technological infrastructure and competitive prices increase the strength of the sector day by day.
Türkiye exported nearly 80 different types of minerals in 2023, generating 5.7 billion dollars in foreign exchange earnings. One third of these exports, or 1.9 billion dollars, came from natural stone exports. However, total exports across the country have decreased by 11 percent since 2022, which is attributed to local and global economic challenges.
As the Aegean Mineral Exporters' Association, Alimoğlu stated that they exported 1.06 billion dollars worth of minerals together with their members in 2023, emphasizing that more than half of the exports were natural stone. Processed natural stones stand out in natural stone exports.
GROWTH IN EXPORTS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR
Alimoğlu expressed that they are hopeful for 2024 and that they have stopped the bad trend in export figures with the support of marketing activities in the first two months.
İbrahim Alimoğlu also added that preparations for the Izmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair - MARBLE, one of the most important meeting points in the world, are continuing and that the fair, which will be held between April 17-20, is important in terms of achieving export targets.
Stating that they increased their exports by 14.5 percent in January and February 2024 compared to the same period last year, Alimoğlu emphasized the following:
"We believe that by planning an intensive marketing activity in 2024, we will recover the loss of our mining sector in 2023. As the Aegean Mineral Exporters' Association, we will work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring 1 billion 250 million dollars of foreign currency to our country by the end of 2024."
