Mexico's rebar consumption up, production down

According to the Mexican steel industry association Canacero, Mexico's consumption of rebar rose in June this year, while its production fell.

In June, Mexico's rebar consumption increased by 7.5% yoy to 329,000 tons, while rebar production fell slightly by 1.1% to 347,000 tons.

In the first half of the year, rebar consumption rose by 8.8% to 2.1 million tons, while output fell by 1.4% to 2.2 million tons. However, Mexico's exports of rebar decreased by 50% in June, reaching the second lowest level this year, following the lowest in May.
