According to data from Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Mexico's scrap import value fell 98.3 per cent y-o-y to USD 1 million in August, the lowest monthly value in 30 years.
In the first eight months of 2023, scrap import value reached USD 725 million, down 28.6 per cent y-o-y.
On the export side, Mexico's scrap export value reached USD 46 million in August, up 40.2 per cent y-o-y. Between January and August, the value of scrap exports fell by 17.2 per cent y-o-y to USD 304 million.
