Malaysian Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd has reactivated its only blast furnace in Terengganu.
It is understood that the 600 cubic meter blast furnace has been closed since October 2015, mainly due to low capacity usage.
Eastern Steel also re-commissioned its continuous casting machine with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons.
In addition, the company originally planned to resume production in 2017, but some shareholder changes caused a delay in this regard.
